While he passionately pursued his big ideas and brought them to fruition, Ratan Tata was also a rare, no-fuss leader who demonstrated great humility and empathy for his staff, be it arranging lunches for all attending weekend meetings when the canteen was only partly functional, to joining the lift queue with employees at Mumbai’s iconic World Trade Centre or taking a Kaali Peeli taxi to Bombay House.
